AcademicExperts.us review is one review I must undertake. This review has become very imperative for a number of reasons chief amongst which are the fact that I have personally worked with the company for a duration of 3 year and partly because of the very false notions circulating around the internet about not only AcademicExperts.us but many of the academic writing agencies available online today.
If you are reading this review with the intention of getting your academic work tackled by a company, I recommend you take a look at Study Bay and not Academic Experts…they are a much better alternative.
If you’ll prefer to work and earn, take a look at this link.
What Is AcademicExperts/What The Company Does
AcademicExperts is an academic writing agency that concerns itself with helping students worldwide with their academic papers. These papers range from High School to Ph.D levels although the website the customers/clients actually interact with is quite different from the writing portal, AcademicExperts.us.
Essentially thus, the writing portal is just for writers where orders are bidded for and depending on the particular setting/demand of the paper, auto assigned or manually assigned to a writer. Clients/writers have an internal messaging system of communication that ensures both the writer, client and support team are always in constant communication if the need arise. Typical response time between a writer and the support team is about 5 minutes and between the writer and his/her client, as long as the client actually does respond.
Aside the support department (responsible for aiding with any unforeseen circumstances that may arise with an order), there are also other numerous departments: writers department (responsible for the welfare and assistance of writers – if need be); quality assurance department (responsible for ensuring that the papers writers churn out meet quality standards), dissertation department (responsible for dissertation or thesis – like orders); payment department (responsible for payments and remittance of funds to writers and the newly introduced mentoring department (concerned primarily with assisting writers who need help till they can stand on their feet). All messages to these departments (on the whole) take an average of 10 minutes except payment department which seems genuinely reluctant responding to messages sent to them via the system. However, all messages get responded to in the span of three days, no matter the initial delay.
Mode Of Operation Of AcademicExperts
Usually, all jobs that a writer qualifies for are visible from the writer’s Available Orders Page. This page displays the works that a writer is qualified to take on depending on his/her highest qualification chosen (and other internally decided factors like quality of submitted/done orders etc). This means, if a writer chose Masters Degree as the highest qualification obtained, such a writer would not be able to view Ph.D orders.
Once an order has been assigned to a particular writer (based on the writer’s proficiency in that discipline), the order is removed from the available orders page and moved to Current Orders where only the writer assigned to the particular order can view them. At this stage, the particular order cannot be viewed by anyone else: it is writer assigned – assigned to the particular writer in question.
Once a bidded (and assigned order) has been completed and submitted by a writer, it moves over to Done Orders. This indicates orders that have been done by the writer and are pending delivery by the support team. Usually, the support team checks all orders for grammatical error, syntactical errors and other niceties that make the English language/grammar what it is. In addition, the support team further makes certain that all orders meet quality control especially the most common plagiarism challenges. Plagiarism tools are used for this purpose and an academic paper that fails to pass the test is flagged down for revision and in some cases (determined by the company), may be subject to some punitive measures which may bother on fine or suspension.
If a paper has no such challenge, it is forwarded to the client for onward approval and remittance of funds. At this point, the order is under the done orders tab but under a distinct sub – label: Delivered. Orders that are delivered stay a maximum of 14 days after which whether or not the client approves them, it moves over to the Finished Orders tab and the corresponding bid in dollars credited to the writer’s wallet with the company. Such funds are withdrawalable twice monthly (on the 1st and 15th) after reaching the minimum payout (which varies according to the payment method chosen). For example, Payoneer has a minimum payout of $20 while international checks have a payout tab pegged at $500.
Auto Take Feature Of AcademicExperts
Until recently (March 2014), the process of taking orders at AcademicExperts was manual. This means that the company had to assign all orders that a writer bid for personally and go ahead to inform such a writer via email and an automated call. This process was not only slow and quite inconvenient for the writers (and staff of the company), it also meant that an order that was bidded for (and fogotten by a writer as was the case with bids not acted upon early enough) would simply be assigned to a writer when he/she was either on holiday or in a least position to facilitate reasonable delivery. This process always meant fines. Fines which the company, AcademicExperts.us believed were right and their writers wondered why a company could be so cruel!
‘Auto – Take’ involves a system where a qualified writer is able to automatically take an order based on pre set criteria. Generally, the higher the general rating of a writer, the more auto take orders he/she can take at a time. From 70% general rating and above, a writer can take up to 4 orders which must be completed and submitted before more can be taken.
However, it must be noted that not all orders are based on the auto – take system. By the virtue of some orders and the technical expertise required, some orders must be bidded for. Sometimes too, a client’s express orders may actually necessitate that orders be bidded for and the most qualifying writer awarded the job.
It is the experience of the present writer that AcademicExperts.us favours the auto take system more during the hot season (a period of many orders) than the normal period when it is possible to easily manage the orders emanating from the clients.
Time Extension On AcademicExperts
AcademicExperts.us takes time seriously and this review would not be complete without a mention of that. Usually, when an order is bidded for and assigned to a writer (or auto taken – whatever is the case), the deadline for that particular order begins to count down against the writer whose business it is to complete the order and deliver it on time.
Now, as a writer, you are supposed to be able to finish the order within the said time frame and submit same for onward delivery to the client. However, there are some instances that may warrant an extension of time: an order that gets more complex than initially anticipated, scarcity of research materials or just about any challenge. In such instances, you can easily ask for an extension (which at present, is automated). This means that you simply have to click on the time extension tab on the corresponding order page and seek the additional hours you need (maximum of 24 hours).
Once clicked, you can easily see that you either qualify for the said extension (and are ‘fine free’ if you proceed; you qualify for the extension but with a 5% fine; you qualify for an extension with a fine of 25% or you don’t qualify at all). This lets you know the implication of an extension before hand and guilds you appropriately to either pick up the order or force yourself to deliver within the existing time frame.
Hiring Of Writers And How It’s Done On AcademicExperts.us
Writers for who desire to write for AcademicExperts.us are given the opportunity to apply, free of charge. Once you fill a basic web form, you are asked to upload a valid photo ID so that your identity can be ascertained. Once that is done, you face two set of final, qualifying tests.
The very first test involves writing and implicates answering about 30 English Language based objective test questions which must be answered under 15 minutes. This test is automatic and at the end of the test, you are either congratulated for having passed it or explained to that you did not meet the basic requirement of working with the company.
Candidates who scale through the objective test are further given an essay to write which could be written immediately or postponed to some future date. Once started, the time for this essay is also vigorously regulated and a writer must make sure that the essay (usually less than 500 words) is submitted within a range of about 3 hours.
Once the three hours have elapsed, a prospective writer would not be able to submit the essay again. However, if a writer can succeed in submitting the essay within the time frame, an evaluation process is initiated which culminates in either an acceptance into the programme or a rejection and an advice to try again after some months, usually, three (3) months.
Writers who are successful with this phase of the test are provided with PDF materials to better understand the company and it’s policies and the numerous writing styles they are expected to be familiar with. At this point, a writer can successfully bid for orders and get assigned orders that are bidded for. Also, if such available orders are available on auto take, a new writer can immediately take on such orders without recourse to the support team or any one else.
Working For AcademicExperts
Working for the company can be fun. Aside the fact that fun can be got from the programme, it is also a very easy way to ensure that you have a check to settle private challenges – at least twice a month.
However, the early days on AcademicExperts are usually not fun and if I were to write this review then, it is doubted if it would have been anything but optimistic or rational. This is because, getting approved for a Payoneer card took almost forever, the alternative of payment by check meant that only after one accumulated a $500 balance that would qualify a writer for payment and the sole fact that fines accumulated (because of carelessness on the part of the writer or a gross misunderstanding of company policies) are always more than what is earned!
To be frank, I nearly quit the programme myself but for the support of my wife!
However, today, I seriously enjoy working with the company and have learnt a lot from the numerous orders that I execute to this day. In fact, I first came across Steve Job’s 2005 Standford Commencement Speech during an order I executed for a client. To this day, that speech has changed the way I look at work and personal success. For that, I am eternally grateful.
The joy of a satisfied client makes for the most satisfying smile. Usually, when I see that a client I handled a project for got a nice grade and came back in appreciation, I just smile and show the appreciation to my wife. Usually, the grade is a 10 out of a possible 10 for me! If the client could score me that high, the only logical explanation is that he/she for a straight ‘A’. And this is a norm – rather than a sad exception!
Renumeration On AcademicExperts
The earning potential with AcademicExperts.us is infinite. This means that you could earn a thousand dollars or if you have the brains and have developed the speed, tens of thousand of dollars! This is because, during the high season (around the time students vacate for the semester or season in the US), orders are typically more than a hundred at any given time. As more are taken, more find themselves in! Earning $500 a day is as easy as taking as much as physically (and mentally possible) and delivering same to clients in a very professional manner that they do not have course to complain or ask for revisions to be done.
However, during the low season, orders are typically scarce and it takes patience to hit the manner of order most writers would be comfortable with. Them again, due to increased competition for the few orders available, one simply has to be online frequently to grab orders as they become available. During such seasons, a modest $100 – $200 per two weeks is typical.
By the way, orders start at around $4 per page and peak at around $7-8 per page. To this end, the information on the homepage isn’t entirely correct.
Time Of Payment On This Freelance Writing Site
This review of AcademicExperts.us woundn’t be complete without mentioning the time which a writer typically receives payments or expects to be paid. The times are twice a month: 1st and 15th subject to earning the minimum payout amount for your payment method. Payoneer is $20 and Check is a whooping $500!
To request for payment, a writer has to click the request payment button within the first three days of any payment season subject to the assumption that a writer has amassed the minimum payout already. Once requested, the money is forwarded with 1 – 3 business days!
I have never had any experience of failure of payment. While there are delays sometimes, they usually fall withing the stipulated 5 day interval which if looked at from the perspective of the company’s policy, isn’t a delay at all!
Truth be told: AcademicExperts.us has a plethora of very negative reviews, both from clients or former writers. When I was interested in the company at first, EssayScam almost convinced me it was a matter not worth looking into further…
However, it’s worth investigating further why some reviews about this research/essay writing company aren’t that great:
As a company, AcademicExperts does it’s best to hire (and maintain) only top notch writers (it makes no sense whatsoever doing otherwise). However, some of the accounts created (and approved) are later sold out to ‘quack writers’ who in themselves would never have gone past even the first test! While this is eventually figured out (and such accounts closed), the operators may have delivered shabby or less than ideal papers within that duration. Personally, of over the 200 orders I have delivered only one was badly received by the client: all the clients I work for are supremely happy – so I believe are other clients who have other writers working for them.
To succeed as a writer with AcademicExperts isn’t just a battle of brains. It involves having the ability to remain organized and focused, follow instructions and more importantly, keep deadlines. Fired writers who were found to breach these requirements may spread the bad word, sincerely wondering why their brains weren’t enough.
These are the major reasons for the otherwise negative reviews about AcademicExperts. If anymore exists, I have skipped it or imagined that it is quite small and inconsequential.
Personal Opinions About The Company
Why the company remains a great company when looked at holistically, there are some short comings that are worthy of looking at critically.
Mentorship programme: This programme was introduced recently and is supposed to aid writers who require assistance at a percentage of their total order bid amount, usually 30%. Why this is essentially a great idea, it was forced (when introduced) on even the greatest writers (like me) who had an overall client satisfaction rating of over 9 points out of a possible 10 in addition to consistently returning a score of 10 out of 10 for up to 10 orders in a row!
When the programme was introduced, I fought it with the last drop of my brain power! At last, I was left alone but with threats that would intimidate even Hitler! I believe such a move is an unjust way to enrich the company at the expense of the writers.
Fined (and reassigned orders): When you back out of an order already assigned to you, you are fined for that order to the tune of 100%. The reason usually given is that the fined amount would be used to ‘motivate’ the next writer who would need to work on a tighter schedule. The challenge with this system is that it is simply not true! Most of the orders I was penalized and fined 100% for never had a penny added for the next writer (or at most, only 25% was added). The big question remains: where does the money go? Is AcademicExperts using the money it fines it’s writers as personal ‘profit’ and not for the motivation of subsequent writers as is usually advertised?
Fines (that never get reviewed): Usually, writers are given an option to seek fine removal for fines they feel are not justified. While this may sound great, the company never in practice returns fined amounts even after requesting for it. The best way out of this situation is to avoid the fines in the first place (if that is possible).
The client is king (and the writer shit) mentality: It is also my personal opinion that in disputes that involve a client and a writer, the company always have a way of siding with the client (even when they are obviously wrong). This policy, it is believed, is out in place to ensure that the clients keep on bringing business – especially when taken into cognizance that the money comes from the clients and the writers instead make a living from the site. What the company chooses to forget is that no money can be made without the writers and no one would be available to tackle the orders from the clients (orders that sustain the company) should the company lose all or it’s best writers.
It is suggested that treating writers well and above even clients is the preferred and better option; with such a system, writers who are treated well inturn treat the clients well…this makes it possible to have an overall system where both clients and writers are well treated, respected and motivated to continue with AcademicExperts.
Final Thoughts About AcademicExperts.us
While AcademicExperts has it’s bunch of problems (covered succinctly in this review), the problems are at best mild, manageable and common place on the internet – nothing really exceptional. If you thus are smart, can take orders (in good faith) and know what it takes to deliver a job on time, you may just be earning a great side income in the process.
Maybe, you should try AcademicExperts.us after reading this lenghth (but thorough review). What do you think?
Update: December 2015
I no longer work for AcademicExperts.us and as a matter of fact, consider my time with the company a total waste of both time, genius and brainpower. However, to avoid sounding like a jerk who is speaking ill of a former company simply because I no longer work for the company in question, I have attached screenshots of my dealings with the company, highlighting the various reasons why I sincerely believe no one need bother with the company if he/she is serious and respects his time, dignity, honor, genius and self worth.
First, the company woke up one day and demanded that I upload an identity card, holding it to my ear in a mugshot manner – like a common criminal.
Second, I immediately replied when I got this rather unwarranted message…my reply was apt and to the point:
Finally, it seems that the Quality Assurance department of the company really does not understand the English Language or else, the department is versed with dictatorial tendencies…this is what I received next:
See? Does this make any sense? Having convinced myself of the dictatorial tendencies of the company and having adduced evidence, I rest my case.
What I Think Of AcademicExperts And Similar Companies Now
Having worked for three (3) years with AcademicExperts.us, I have come to understand the following about the company – facts I believe equally apply to other freelance writing sites that operate on the outsourcing model of getting clients orders done remotely.
- The pay is bad – really bad. As a beginner, I imagined that $5 per page is a great paycheck. However, I have come to handle personal orders privately that I charged as much as $70 per page – and was actually paid! If you can thus privately source for orders, by no means should you bother with a mere $5 per page…it’s actually stupid!
- Never consider working with such freelance sites like AcademicExperts as reasonable work that you can rely on…this is because, orders are not consistent and the moderators/staff of these platforms are naturally power drunk and can fire you for no reasonable excuse as was the case with me. The smartest thing to do is to simply ensure that you consider this manner of ‘work’ temporary in the strictest sense of the word.
- The concept of becoming free and working online is a joke if you work with such companies like AcademicExperts.us. Usually, I was in the habit of being woken up at the dead of the night either for a revision or an order and worked round the clock like an idiot. This means, aside working in my bedroom in a shorts and tee, the regular guy with a day job was was enjoying life and work better than I was because at least, he was enjoying himself and free after work hours…I on the other hand was busy round the clock. Who has freedom?!
- Finally, I have come to a universal truth online: you should own your online business at all means or it’s no business at all! This means that, if you cannot control anything bringing you money online, you should not bank on it as a business at all – and should work on either controlling it or getting into one you can control…or all is lost completely when your singular income source dries up.
